ICC has been very consistent with their rankings throughout.
They have named BABAR AZAM as the cricketer of the year. Most people do say that he wasn't good enough to be ranked as the CRICKETER OF THE YEAR. Well they are right to some extent but he deserved that. He wasn't the best player in the World cup. But he was the reason Pakistan made it to the finals. And he played really good shots along with Rizwan in the semi finals.
But in ODIs Babar is on another level.
Babar Azam with 887 points is on top of the list, with Vd Dussen in second. Babar has a lead of 79 points. Shubman Gill from India is also a rising star. Shubman Gill scored a double hundred in ODI against New Zealand in their home ground. He is an emerging star who might in future be a challenger of Babar Azam. Babar has failed to score a double century yet in ODIs with the latter only reaching at 196.
Babar has been the best batsman in all three formats.
Babar also has an average of 60 which in history has never been achieved. The only one close enough was Virat Kohli who made it to 59. Babar leads the Pakistani Team in all three formats. Babar switched teams in PSL going from Karachi Kings to Peshawar Zalmi. Babar will also lead the team in the upcoming PSL.
